The 23" square top funnels down to a 12" square grated opening that keeps the trash out while allowing the charcoal to slip trough. To clean, just use any flat shovel to scoop out ashes. For extra ease you can place any steel container (up to 32 gallons) inside to catch the debris for even quicker clean up. The Hot Coal Bin is designed to be anchored to concrete for ease and safety.
